Privacy Policy
Effective 9 September 2026 · Applies to the First Fork app for iPhone and Apple Watch
First Fork is a glucose logger for gestational diabetes. It is built so that everything you log stays on your device. We do not have user accounts, we do not run analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and we do not operate a server that your health data passes through. This page explains exactly what the app stores, what (if anything) leaves your device, and your choices.
What stays on your device
Every reading, meal window, target range, and medication note you log is stored locally on your iPhone, in a database shared only with the First Fork Lock Screen/Dynamic Island Live Activity and Apple Watch app you use — never with a server. This data is included in your iCloud or iTunes device backup if you have backups turned on, under Apple's own backup terms; First Fork itself has no cloud sync and cannot see your data.
Meter photo scanning. If you photograph a glucose meter to log a reading, the photo is read on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition (Vision framework). The photo and its text are processed locally and are not uploaded anywhere.
What leaves your device
| When | What happens | Where |
|---|---|---|
| You subscribe or buy Lifetime | Your purchase is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit | Apple |
| You export or share the clinic PDF | You choose the destination (Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Print, Files, etc.) through iOS's share sheet | Wherever you send it — that is your choice, not ours |
We receive only an anonymous confirmation from Apple that a purchase is active. We never see your payment details, Apple ID, or name. The clinic PDF is generated on your device and only leaves it when you actively choose to export or share it.
What we do not do
- No user accounts, sign-in, or email collection.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind — first-party or third-party.
- No servers that your readings, meals, or notes are ever sent to.
- No Apple Health (HealthKit) integration in this version — First Fork does not read or write Health data.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data, because we never receive any.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, First Fork schedules them locally on your device for your two-hour post-meal windows. No notification content passes through a server.
Not medical advice
First Fork is a logging and organizing tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice, and it is not a substitute for guidance from your clinician. Always follow your care team's instructions for testing, targets, and treatment.
Children
First Fork is made for pregnant adults managing gestational diabetes. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and rights
- See or delete your data: everything First Fork holds is on your device, in Settings and your reading history. Deleting the app deletes it.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple.
- If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you have rights to access, correct, delete, and object to processing of personal data; because First Fork holds no personal data outside your own device, these rights are exercised directly on your device as described above.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, note it in the app's release notes.
